It turns into itself and makes a ball. That way, it can survive the heat. In the presence of moisture, the plant returns to its original state. It is sometimes termed tumbleweed because it gets uprooted and gets blown away by the wind. In case of uprooting, it cannot revive in the presence of moisture.  The plant can grow as wide as 30cm. It bears small white flowers.

False Rose of Jericho

Selaginella lepidophylla is the false Rose of Jericho. This plant can be found in Chihuahuan Dessert in Mexico. This plant is a member of the moss family. All the features of the true Rose of Jericho and false Rose of Jericho are the same, except the false Rose of Jericho can regain its original form even after uprooting and becoming the tumbleweed.

Beneficial Uses of Rose of Jericho

There are many uses of this plant. Due to this reason, it is found in many traditional medical treatments. Most of the time, the plant leaves are used to make teas, and then that tea is consumed for treatment purposes. Some of the uses of the plant are in the treatment of:

Among them, 66% used Rose of Jericho during pregnancy. The risk and benefits of Rose of Jericho during pregnancy are unknown. It is best not to use Rose of Jericho during pregnancy till further studies are done.

Luteolin

If you want to take Rose of Jericho for labor induction, tell your physician beforehand. There are no studies that show that Rose of Jericho helps in labor induction, so make sure you are aware of that before taking the plant in your diet.
