On average, men need 60g of protein per day while women need 50g. To make the nine essential amino acids that your body can not produce, you need to consume the right amount of protein.

Role of Proteins

Protein plays a very important role in your body and is needed for good health fitness. Some of the roles are:

  • Hormones are needed in the body for communication
  • Enzymes are the driving force by which the body is functioning

Some vegetables also have protein, but the amount is not enough for a high protein diet. Beans and legumes are rich in protein. Furthermore, if you are a vegan and do not want to eat meat and follow the high protein diet, you can substitute meat with tofu.

A high protein diet causes stomach fullness, lessens snacking, and overeating. The protein accelerates the metabolic rate of the body. Although fats and carbs can increase the metabolic rate, their prowess is less than that of the proteins. These entire things combined make a high protein diet a strong competitor for weight loss.

Not only weight loss but also muscles can be gained. Many athletes are on a protein diet so they can gain lean muscles. A high protein diet combined with good exercise works wonders.

What to Eat during Diet?

As we have established before, high protein essentially comes from the meat, but here in the following, we will talk about what other choices we have:

  1. Meat
    Lean meat is an obvious choice when on a high protein diet. They are full of essential amino acids.
  2. Chicken & Eggs
    Both Chicken and eggs are rich in proteins. They also taste good. When eaten in the morning breakfast, eggs provide a full stomach the whole day.
  3. Beans & legumes
    The diet should not consist of meat only. You should have other options too.
  4. Avocados
  5. Guava
  6. Fish
    Fish provides not only protein but also omega-three fatty acids that are good for fitness and health. Salmon and tuna are the obvious choices for the diet.
  7. Tofu
    Vegans can take advantage of tofu while on a high protein diet. One tofu has about 8g of proteins.


Many other products can be eaten while on the protein diet. The high protein diet has many advantages still. Before starting the diet, consult your doctor or physician as the diet can accelerate kidney damage. People who are suffering from kidney malfunction should avoid it.
